Coach Role

Adult Participation Requirements

All adult participants, including administrators, coaches, and team managers, are required by law to have a background check (annually), SafeSport Training (every two years) and Concussion (recognition) Training (every three years). This includes traveling AND recreational league adult participants. These requirements must be completed prior to contact with your team.

Coach Code of Conduct

AS A COACH OF A BYRON YOUR SOCCER ASSOCIATION TEAM, I WILL:

● Coach the team to the best of my ability.
● Always place the safety of players over any competitive factor or the value of winning.
● Respect officials and accept their decisions.
● Be encouraging and supportive to my players and their families.
● Communicate all necessary information to my players in a timely fashion.
● Carry out all tasks when requested by BYSA.
● Regularly check to ensure equipment and practice/game areas meet safety standards and are appropriate for the age and ability of my players.
● Follow the advice of a physician in determining when an injured child is ready to play again.
● Familiarize myself with the laws of the game as applicable to the age of my team.
● Support and comply with the rules, policies and procedure of BYSA as they apply to me.
● Report a red card to BYSA president and follow rules of tournament, league, and BYSA.
● Report player misconduct (fighting/bullying) to BYSA president.
● Wear appropriate apparel to all BYSA activities (BYSA or Byron apparel if possible).
● Read and respond to email/communication in a timely manner.

AS A COACH OF A BYRON YOUR SOCCER ASSOCIATION TEAM, I WILL NEVER:

● Engage in dissent directed toward an official.
● Engage in any type of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, manager, player, parent.
● Discuss issues about the team or individual players in front of any of the players, unless deemed necessary.
● Use tobacco or alcohol at any BYSA practice or game.
● Act in any manner that is detrimental to the team or the Byron Youth Soccer Association.
● Leave any child alone at the field or leave before they have been safely collected by a parent or guardian.
